Mieterspiegel (rental price reference).

Mieterspiegel · Mieterspiegel · Mieterspiegel

Statistical reference for prevailing rental prices by neighbourhood and apartment type.

The Mieterspiegel is a database of prevailing comparable rents, maintained by cantonal statistical offices or major cities. It serves as a reference in rent dispute cases: if you think the landlord is asking too much, you can contest the rent within 30 days of moving in by going to the conciliation authority and citing the Mieterspiegel value.

Key sources: - Zürich: Statistik Stadt Zürich publishes detailed rental prices per city district, apartment size, year built. - Bern: Statistik Stadt Bern. - Geneva: Office cantonal de la statistique (OCSTAT). - Federal: Bundesamt für Statistik (BFS), Switzerland-wide rental statistics.

aptari uses reference values like these so that while you search you can see whether a listing's rent is in the usual local range or well above it. That helps you spot overpriced listings before you apply.
