Salary certificate (Lohnausweis).
Official employer-issued document showing annual gross salary and deductions.
The Lohnausweis (salary certificate) is issued once a year by your employer and is the most important income proof in Switzerland. Landlords use it to check the 3x rule on income to rent, a firm rule of thumb on the Swiss rental market.
The 3x rule in detail: your monthly gross income should be at least three times the monthly gross rent (including utilities). A gross salary of CHF 7,000/month works out to roughly CHF 2,333 rent. Premium properties sometimes ask for 3.5x or 4x.
On aptari you upload your salary certificate once into your Tenant Passport. aptari uses the verified income figure to show you a Match Score on every listing, so you can see how well you fit the flat before you apply.
Self-employed + freelancers: instead of a Lohnausweis, you'll typically need the last 2-3 tax returns, a current self-declaration, or an accounting statement. aptari supports all three.
Recently changed jobs: if your last Lohnausweis is from a previous employer, supplement it with your current employment contract and 1-2 recent payslips.
